Find a free dental clinic in your area.

Dental clinics, one of which will likely be near you, provide a wide variety of assistance programs to anyone in need. They focus their service on the uninsured, low income, and working poor, but anyone can use a center in their community. Free nearby dental clinics listed below are usually run by volunteer dentists, hygienists, and even students from local schools. Resources from these centers, most of which are run charities, are limited, but they try to help anyone in need and not turn a patient away.

Whether a patient has private insurance, a government benefit such as Medicaid or CHIP, or if they lack health insurance, a dental clinic that is near you will still be able to assist. Some will ask for minimal contributions, and these are known as sliding fee scales and the charge will be based on the household’s income. Others will offer their service at no cost to the patient. Some of the free dental clinics near you may provide the following type of care.

  • Cleanings, preventative care as well as check ups.
  • Basic surgery, including root canals or extractions, fillings, crowns, or bridges.
  • More in depth programs including x-rays, dentures, tooth replacement or partials.
  • Pediatric dental care is almost always a specialty of the community clinics.
  • Senior citizens who need some for of affordable or free dental care can also get help from one of the clinics near them.
  • Information on services, including charitable dental bill assistance programs, for existing debts.

Or they help families obtain free dental insurance plans for their needs. Note some of them are only offered certain times of the month, so it is always recommended to call in advance for information on available services. They also tend to have information on other types of free or low cost medical care which may help a struggling patient.

Volunteer social workers, or even full time staff, are often located at a dental center too. The reason for this is to assist the patient in other ways. As they can provide information on everything from applying to government assistance to any type of free emergency dental care near you that can help in a crisis. They also provide suggestions on applying for financial aid, tips on how to get settlement for medical debts, food, and much more.
