Dozens of health care centers and income based community clinics operate throughout the county, many as part of the FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) grant program. They also offer dental services, such as emergency teeth extractions or root canals, dentures, teeth cleanings and other support. This is combined with cheap or free medical for the low-income as well as people on Medi-Cal.
The non-profits provide residents of Los Angeles County with free or low cost health care, regardless of tyhe patient’s ability to pay. While income limits and other conditions will need to be met by patients, a number of different services are offered by the free or affordable community health centers in Los Angeles. In addition to above, many have Tele-health services, free transportation to the doctor, pediatrics, dermatology, pediatrics. OB/GYN or free womens care and more.
While most of the programs focus on the uninsured families in MediCal and low-income Los Angeles County patients, others from the community may be able to benefit from sliding fee scales as well. The medical centers and clinic provide a variety of health care services. They provide help to migrants and Spanish speakers as well as the homeless in Los Angeles. This includes non-emergency, outpatient medical services. Many sites also have dental, mental health and pharmacy services on site, can provide X rays, lab work, and more. Also psychiatrists, eye doctors, and dentists give free care to the low-income.
