Financial assistance from Missouri Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army centers in Missouri can offer emergency financial assistance and social services to low income families and individuals. All resources are limited in nature, in particular any type of monetary or cash assistance. While the services will vary by location listed below, some of what you can find is below. Contact a location in order to speak to a case manager for advice or help in applying for financial assistance or resources.

Community Food and Bread Pantry – Most of the food banks run by the Salvation Army in Missouri are supported through donations from local charities, non-profit organizations and the generosity of individuals in and around the community. Items such as milk products, bread and special treats are distributed when made available to the pantry. The centers supply groceries and other forms of food or clothing assistance to feed thousands in need each year. If the charity can’t help, then find other free food pantries in Missouri.

After School Programs are offered for students in grades K thru 12. Students of all ages are welcome to attend any type of after school program that may be offered at your location for a low yearly fee. Some activities that may be offered include a computer lab, homework assistance, arts and crafts, music class, Bible study, games, and sports.

Shelter can be offered to those who were evicted, victims of domestic violence, and people who were impacted by a natural disaster. Qualified residents are allowed up stay in a shelter which they also have the opportunity to participate in a required support group as well as take life skills classes.

Emergency Financial Assistance is offered on a limited basis. Missouri families can get help with paying for utilities, including water, electric, heating, and gas bills from the Salvation Army. Also get assistance with paying for other needs such as prescription medications (when available), rent and emergency lodging, and eyeglasses when necessary.

Any type of financial assistance strictly depends on funding and available resources. Unfortunately only a small number of people can receive help. However some programs can also offer vouchers for items like gasoline or medications.

In some cases the Salvation Army centers in Missouri can provide grants or loans for paying bills as part of their social services. In other instances the case worker directs the client to another local charity or even government benefit programs. All resources will be assessed.

Early Learning Centers may be onsite, and affordable child and daycare for children ages two- to five-years of age may be coordinated. Preschool sessions are also offered in the morning during the weekdays.

The bottom line is that almost every Salvation Army center across Missouri offers a wide variety of basic social services, including clothing, food pantry, financial, utility bill and rent assistance. In addition to support for those basic needs, caseworkers from the Salvation Army offer counseling services and casework including financial planning assistance, emotional support in cases of abuse, as well as job placement strategies.
