Most of the distribution centers are churches, community action agencies, or local charities that are open daily - some even today. The majority of the free food banks are located in the metro Houston area. The exact type of assistance programs offered at each food bank or pantry in the region will vary. Some provide just free groceries, and others may offer free holiday baskets or meals, dog or cat food (or litter), free personal hygiene supplies or toiletries, or other resources. There are also Meals on Wheels home delivery services for the homebound in Houton.
In addition, long term hunger prevention is arranged.
