Free clothes, furniture and school supply programs Houston area and Harris County.

Find charities and churches in the greater Houston Texas area that give free clothes for work or school, household goods, furniture, baby items, back to school supplies and other stuff to the low income. There are agencies in the Houston area, Montgomery County and other nearby cities. They give out free stuff for basic needs, including clothes and work items, but they rely on donations from the community, and resources will vary by center.

Some of the clothing closets, furniture banks and non-profit centers may sell the items at a reduced price, and others provide vouchers that families can use to obtain free clothes or other stuff for their family. This can include free school supplies, work uniforms, shoes, coats, and items for a home or apartment such as furniture or beds. There may also be free appliances in Houston. Some charities even pass out free birthday toys or gifts to kids.

Many of the Houston, Harris and Montgomery County non-profits also provide free holiday assistance. This includes free toys, gifts, and meals. Some locations focus on meeting the needs of seniors in the community, including free medical equipment, furniture or home modification support. When a center can’t help you, they will try to refer you to who can.

The leading churches, charities, and agencies to call in the Houston and surrounding region are below. Resources are often provided on a first come/served basis, so call early and often. Free household furniture tens to be even more limited. Most of the clothes are the result of donations, so supplies may be limited. For more information, locate additional sources of free baby supplies for low income families.
