The discount is available to qualified low-income households who currently spend more than a specified percentage of their total household income for natural gas or electric service.   • Weatherization Assistance - This federal government funded program will help low income households save on their heating and utility bills. People who are accepted into the program may receive free energy saving upgrades to their home, as well as financial and educational assistance with energy conservation. The home someone lives in is evaluated to determine the best ways to reduce the cost and consumption of energy. For example, the homeowner may receive free insulation, furnace tune ups or repairs, window replacement, and more.
     
  • Mortgage and Housing Counseling - Burlington County Community Action Agency will provides a wide variety of housing counseling, including first-time homebuyer education; mortgage delinquency and default resolution counseling; pre-purchase and post- purchase homeownership counseling; foreclosure prevention assistance; fair housing assistance; and renter assistance counseling to qualified applicants.   • Rent Help and Homelessness Prevention - Receive free cash grants and other rent aid. This will provides homeowners and renters several services, including referral assistance to the homeless and those in imminent danger of being evicted or becoming homeless, by providing a grant that can be used for 1 payment for delinquent rent or mortgages. In addition, BCCAP will also assist with paying first months rent and security deposits if you are currently homeless and need a place to live.

    Emergency Home Repairs - If you are low income, you can get financial assistance in the form of cash grants or low interest loans that can be used for home repairs when the applicants face life threatening situations in their homes, such as no water, heat, or cooking facilities , or other unsafe living conditions.
     
  • Emergency Energy Bill Crisis Intervention - Through a wide variety of state and federal government assistance programs, grants for paying utility and fuel bills may be available to help low and middle income households who are otherwise unable to make required payments.

 

 

 

 

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - Qualified low-income households will receive cash grants and benefits to assist them with paying their home heating and even cooling bills. An additional one-time cash payment may also be available to qualified households with a medical need for cooling assistance. In addition, those households that are eligible for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) may also receive emergency help with the purchase of fuel, heating oil or utilities during the Home Energy heating season during the cold winter months.
     
  • Grant programs - There are several available for low to moderate income families in Burlington County and nationwide. They offer help in starting a business, housing or home buying programs, transportation, and much more. A number of funds may be issued, and find help from grants for bills.
     
  • Eviction Prevention - The county's Homeless Prevention and & Rapid Re-Housing Program, which is funded with $633,000 from federal government stimulus dollars, is being administered through the Burlington County Board of Social Services.

    The rent and eviction program will help struggling renters bring their rent current while they address job or financial problems. An extensive amount of aid is provided, and thousands of households may be eligible for up to six months of back rent and money for utility bill payments, hospital bill assistance, and job training.

Housing and Residential Assistance Services Of Burlington Emergency and Community Services is an organization that provides assistance to eligible families and residents of Burlington County New Jersey. Burlington County Board of Social Services runs the Welfare program for the county. The agency can help people apply for public assistance and programs such as SNAP food stamps.
