The Kansas Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program will be able to provide assistance to low-income families. A variety of income based homes and apartments are available to lease to qualified families or a single person. The public housing agencies listed below near you take applications, manage the wait lists, and provide emergency section 8 vouchers as well to those that qualify. The resource is for very low income families in Kansas, with many senior citizens, veterans, disabled people and single moms getting vouchers. The goal is to give residents a safe and affordable place to live, including access to no-wait list housing. .The government funded program is available as a form of income subsidized housing assistance.
The HUD voucher program helps individuals and families pay their rent for homes or apartments located in Kansas in the private sector. The tenant (whether family or single person) needs to pay some of the housing costs. In addition, the federal government and state of Kansas will pay some of the rent cost on behalf of the tenant as part of section 8. Generally both the low income family (or individual) and the government both pay some of what is due.
