Get free food, groceries, and nutritional support in Colorado from food banks as well as local distribution centers. There are a number of free pantries that are located throughout the state. The locations target their assistance at the low income, unemployed, working poor, and elderly, but many other people may be able to receive help. The free food distribution centers in CO listed below near you do rely on donations and volunteers, so the support is limited.

However each pantry that may be near you does it best to provide some form of assistance, such as groceries free pet food, or information on government benefits, to struggling families and less fortunate in Colorado. Care and Share Food Bank provides assistance in the southern part of the state. They support dozens of counties. The region includes Alamosa, Archuleta, Baca, Bent, Chaffee, Cheyenne, Conejos, Costilla, Crowley, Custer, Dolores, El Paso, Fremont, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Huerfano, as well as Kiowa County. Residetns of La Plata, Las Animas, Lincoln, Mineral, Montezuma, Otero, Ouray, Prowers, Pueblo, Rio Grande, Saguache, San Juan, San Miguel, or Teller can also contact the non--profit.

 

 

 

There are many programs offered in the Colorado Springs and service area, and the Feeding America locations works with hundreds of local pantries, charities and churches. There are free surplus commodities, including milk, cheese, meat, bread and more. Mobile food pantries provide groceries, and there is also the free Cooking Matters classes as well as emergency food for low-income individuals, the disabled, families, and seniors. Food Bank of the Rockies is part of the Feeding America non-profit and serves Denver and many surrounding counties. The center works with other charities and non-profits. This food bank will provide those locations with their food items such as breads, meats, formula, and rice. Those centers (churches, soup kitchens, etc.) then distribute the items to qualified residents. Or apply for SNAP Outreach, free Nutrition Education classes and more.

Food Bank for Larimer County is based at 5706 Wright Drive, Loveland, CO 80538. Call 970.493.4477. The distribution centers prtners with soup kitchens, meal programs, and local pantries. Healthy meals and groceries that meet the need of the elderly are passed out too.

Weld Food Bank only covers the county itself. They are part of the regional distribution network but have one focus, and that is on addressing hunger in Weld County. They also offer thee Feeding America backpack program for weekend meals, medical prescreening for chronic illnesses, applications to SNAP or WIC government aid and other social services.

Community Food Share of Boulder and Broomfield County is based at 650 S. Taylor Ave., Louisville, CO 80027. They operate mobile pantries, partner with charities and senior centers and other non-profits.
