There are several financial aid programs available for the working poor as well as low income in Rogers County. Whether it is a church passing out free items or food or some money to help pay rent, a dental clinic, charity providing cash for paying bills, or government energy bill assistance, resources are available. Some of them, such as for helping to keep utilities on or pay the rent to stop an eviction, are emergency type services.

Senior assistance programs

The Senior Citizens Center (phone (918)341-7300) will help provide food as well as a nutritious, affordable lunch or meal for seniors who are age 50 and older. The Meals on Wheels has food delivered to shut-ins three times a week (Dial (918) 342-2006). Inola Senior Citizens Center offers numerous senior services including serving seniors in the area 12 month a year, 5 days each week, and provides lunches or other meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week. They offer long-term health care, Triad eye services, speakers on Social Security matters, trust funds, new Medicare and pharmacy prescription cards.




Programs to help pay rent and bills

Safenet Services runs the HPRP Prevention program, which offers homelessness prevention stimulus funding and rent help that includes both short and medium-term payment assistance for rent, security deposits, utility and cooling bills, prescription medication, housing counseling, credit repair, debt reduction, and moving costs. CARD Inc., which is based in Claremore Oklahoma, provides rent assistance and housing aid to eligible participants in the Rogers county area.





The Claremore and Rogers County Salvation Army provides assistance with utilities, rent and housing support. There is also free food, and the agency also collaborates with other programs, non-profit organizations and charities throughout the community. The Christian based church also coordinates shelter, holiday meals and gifts, or school supplies for children from low income households. Community Action Resource and Development, Inc. is the community action agency in the area. They run different social service type programs that can help people who are facing a crisis. Housing and rent assistance programs are available from a few non-profits in Rogers County. Many of the agencies only have a small number of grants to issue, if any. Funding will be targeted at families facing an eviction if they were not able to receive help for their rent, and other agencies offer shelter or money for a security deposit.
