Rental and security deposit assistance Lafayette Parish.

When all options have failed, some churches or charities offer assistance with rent to qualified Lafayette Parish families. Funds are limited and all financial aid, whether for rental or security deposits costs, is discretionary. Also find government agencies or charities below that operate shelters, provide security deposit help, loans, utility bill help and other support.

Emergency rental assistance is often combined with long term stability. Whether it is an affordable and safe home, or section 8 HUD vouchers from Lafayette Housing Authority, support is given. The financial help with paying bills, rent, and more is also combined with social services.

Catholic Charities has two locations. They are:

  • The Monsignor Sigur Center, Location is 401 St John St., Lafayette, LA 70501, Call (337) 233-7788. Apply in person, not over the phone. Direct aid from homeless prevention and rapid re-housing services.
  • St. Joseph's Diner, 613 W Simcoe St, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501, call (337) 235-4972

The charity is part of the Lafayette Parish church organization. When income goes down, they may offer rent help or short term support, such as food or furniture. The goal is to help the client keep their home, apartment, or lights on by offering rental assistance while the client gets a new job or higher income.
