The Greenville metro area, including many of the surrounding counties such as Spartanburg, are supported by free clothing closets, furniture banks and non-profit organizations that provide basic needs. The centers will do their best to pass out free back to school supplies, diapers, furniture, clothes for daily wear and more. They will often help resolve those non-monetary needs that individuals and families in the community have.

Each center will offer its own programs and resources. Some will have formal applications or restriction in place while others will do their best to not turn anyone away. The Greenville County clothing closets as well as thrift stores or even furniture banks centers may have free goods for the community, whether it is furniture for a home or apartment or clothes for work or school or other may practical stuff. In general, the thrift stores will usually sell gently used clothes, furniture, household goods and related products.

Whether free clothes or gas vouchers for employment, or education or school supplies for kids or those going for a GED, assistance is offered to the low income. This organization has several sites across the county and city. Social services and other support services are administered. Financial aid, clothes, books or backpacks for students, shoes, sneakers, and even adult diapers for the elderly.

Agency provides the general public, regardless of their income, access to a thrift store. It sells items such as small appliances, clothes, books, toys, and other goods. The proceeds from the store go to pay for financial assistance programs in the region. Case managers and volunteers also offer job training and education, such as employment search, basic on-the-job skills, resume writing, interviewing skills and communication. Or receive free professional work clothes such as a suit or dress.

Other services include transportation, utility bill help, furnishings for burned out families, disaster response and recovery, and maybe money for rent payments. The Angel Tree program will provide gifts, clothes and toys to children at Christmas. A school backpack program is occasionally offered too. A number of financial assistance programs are offered for the low income who qualify, including prescriptions, rent, mortgage, and electric bills. Kids from the Greer SC area can get books, shoes or uniforms for school, and other supplies. Another key service is information and referrals.
