Several of the county’s biggest pantries run on an appointment or call-first model rather than walk-in lines, so a phone call before the trip saves a wasted bus ride. Care To Share has fed Beaverton and Aloha families for decades and now operates as a pantry network run through the Beaverton Resource Center on Walker Road. Households call for a short intake and are matched to a nearby distribution, and the center’s navigators can also line up SNAP applications and other help in the same conversation. SNAP puts a monthly grocery benefit on an Oregon Trail EBT card, and applications can be filed online through the state’s ONE benefits portal or in person at either county office, which also handle cash, medical and child care benefits. Households with almost no income or cash on hand should ask about expedited benefits. The Hillsboro office parking lot also hosts a free monthly food market open to anyone who brings bags or boxes.

Adults 60 and older can eat free at any of the Older Americans Act meal sites above, with a donation welcome but never required, and Meals on Wheels People delivers to homebound seniors across the county while running the dining rooms in Beaverton, Forest Grove and Tigard. Registered congregate diners can also join the Diners Club, which loads ten meals a month onto a card accepted at participating local restaurants. Anyone in the county can dial 2-1-1 to be connected with food help of any kind.
