The Salvation Army in Washington County Oregon is committed to helping Hillsboro and other nearby families. A number of emergency assistance programs, social services, and other support is offered to the needy and less fortunate in the community.

Social services are provided by the Salvation Army, both in English and Spanish. Resources are focused on instilling hope in the needy by helping to meet basic human needs and provide self-sufficiency. The non-profit organization has always worked hard to solve and meet human needs without discrimination so people of all religions, backgrounds, and cultures can call upon the agency for help. The Washington County Oregon organization has been running since the 1990s, and they can provide qualified people with the basic necessities, which includes shelter, food, and other support. People in need can call to see if they can help, and deliver the services you need. A number of assistance programs are offered. They include:

Emergency food boxes – When you are trying to feed your family, a food box may be able to help you through a difficult period. Canned goods, some fresh foods, fruits, breads, peanut butter, and similar items may be contained in it. Thousands of Hillsboro Oregon families turn to food banks, pantries, or boxes every year and do not hesitate to use one if you need help. Baby formula and products may be provided too.

Heating and energy bill assistance – This financial support is usually offered in January-May. Some funds may be offered for Hillsboro families to help them keep their heat on, or ensure they have fuel during the cold Oregon winter. Also get referrals to programs such as LIHEAP or weatherization.

Free hot meals, including Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance, may be provided.   • Women ministries is open from Wednesdays - 5:30pm-7:30pm. Childcare may be available.

Family Potluck Sundays may be offered once per month. This provides people with a place to get a meal, offers amazing time of companionship, fellowship and food. The Sunday potlucks will serve a wide variety of food and other activities for the entire family to participate in.

The Salvation Corp, volunteers, friendly staff and others are always working hard to assist clients and the low income in a dignified and friendly environment. They try to do the most good, to the most people, during a difficult period in their lives. The organizations and the staff’s time, financial resources, and dedication go to help the least fortunate among us.

Case managers always recognize that there are causes to a hardship. So they provide holistic services to the low income, seniors, children, and disabled. The Salvation Army Hillsboro Corps will try to help people find a job, improve their credit, and gain self-sufficiency. Clients will find a supportive community and a wealth of information and programs that can help them.




The hours of operation for these social services will normally be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00am-11:30am or 1:00pm-4:00pm. However it is a good idea to call in advance to confirm, or to see if an appointment is needed. Emergency food boxes are offered from 1:00pm-3:00pm, and the hot meals program operated Monday and Wednesday.
