Organizations in Victoria that help with utility bills, rent, and other living expenses

The Community Action Committee of Victoria is a non-profit agency that offers emergency programs and financial resources for county residents. Among other services they offer include weatherization, LIHEAP / CEAP energy bill assistance applications and rent help.

  • Rent payment help is offered from federal grants. The federal government offers funds each year, such as from ESG, to the county. The money can be used paying for rent or moving costs. The non-profit may be able to provide limited amounts of emergency rental assistance to low-income individuals and families in the region. They also operate a homeless shelter, help with paying electric bills and give other social services to low-income families in Victoria County.

The center has a number of emergency assistance programs and social services for the poor, immigrants and low income. Seasonal resources include free Thanksgiving meals or Christmas assistance. They also give out free back to school supplies in Victoria County.

Victoria Housing Authority has applications to section 8 as well as their own apartments to rent out. Families living in poverty can get a voucher, with emergency section 8 in TX also an option. United Way of Victoria County, the Crossroads, provides support. They have a free referral guide, information on job training as well as local churches that give help, medical care and more.
