Food pantries in Van Buren and Allegan County.

There are several food pantries that operate in Allegan and Van Buren County. Many of the leading non-profit organizations are below. Everything from groceries to clothing or holiday meals may be offered. Also, the staff will offer referrals to alternate locations if one is not near where the family lives.

Each of the food banks are open limited hours. The assistance available at each site will vary, but it ranges from food for everyday needs to more seasonal supplies. This means that locations in Allegan County may offer help in the form of Thanksgiving or Christmas meals. Or students may receive a summer snack.

In addition, case managers will also have applications to government benefits. This may be SNAP food stamps or items such as WIC vouchers. The goal is to offer USDA approved foods to the working poor in the area.

The assistance is available in Allegan County using the U.S. Health Department's recommendations as a guide to provide families with nutritionally balanced meals.
