Non-profit agencies in Monroe County provide assistance during the Christmas season and other holidays as well. They offer everything from toys to free Christmas gifts, clothes, Thanksgiving turkeys or food baskets. A focus is on ensuring children, the disabled, and senior citizens receive support.

Most of the churches as well as charity organizations only focus on a certain area, such as a helping children or seniors that live in a certain neighborhood in Rochester. They also have a formal application process in place for programs such as Toys for Tots or Angel Tree. However for those that qualify, they may receive gift cards to buy a toy or meal, items for a stocking, or needed items, such as winter coats.
