Free food pantries in Jefferson County Alabama.

Food pantries can assist low income, homeless, children, elderly and disabled persons in the Greater Birmingham area. Both emergency assistance and long term support is arranged. They can provide free food, clothing distribution, groceries, hot meals and other support to any Jefferson County Alabama residents who need help. In a typical year, thousands of residents receive some form of groceries from a pantry or soup kitchen near them. The main purpose of the food banks, churches, soup kitchens and free pantries are to help persons and families who reside within Jefferson County and who are struggling. The centers will only assist applicants that fall within certain eligibility requirements. Based on resources and those qualifications, they may offer food, free groceries, meals, Christmas or Thanksgiving dinners or other forms of direct money payments.

Salvation Army of Birmingham, Jefferson County and Bessemer Corps
there are multiple locations of Salvation Army pantries and feeding sites. In addition to offering groceries and perishable items to Jefferson County Alabama families, this Charity can help people apply for government assistance and various social services, including WIC vouchers or free lunches for a student. They also arrange other case management and counseling. Free holiday meals and maybe gifts are provided too, in particular around Christmas or Thanksgiving.
