Detroit and Wayne County free clothing banks, school supplies, and household goods.

Non-profits, churches, and charities in Wayne County provide free clothes, back to school supplies and other items to needy as well as low income families. If you do not qualify for the assistance from a clothing closet then you may be able to buy gently used goods from a thrift store. Or free vouchers are passed out for everything from work or school uniforms to diapers, furniture, and winter coats. Those locations are open to the general public in Detroit and Wayne County.

Both the thrift stores and free clothing closets depend heavily on donations and that will really determine what is available. Some of the programs are seasonal too and can include free Christmas assistance, back to school supplies, or maybe goods and clothing for newborns or babies. Many of the charities also provide free winter hats, gloves, boots, and other attire for the cold Michigan winters. The goal is to keep the vulnerable, including kids and senior citizens, warm as well as safe. Some of the leading centers in Wayne County Michigan are below.
