DeKalb County Georgia rent assistance.

Agencies across the greater DeKalb County area administer rent assistance programs for low income families as well as senior citizens and the disabled. Most of the agencies, churches and charities that offer this emergency rental or security deposit help operate across a multi-county area so they in effect provide assistance to thousands of tenants each year. There are certain non-profits or government assistance programs that offer rent help to veterans or single parents, the unemployed and others. So the terms of each program can change.

The programs also cover all parts of homeless prevention. For example, residents that are behind on their rent can apply for a grant to catch up. People that are homeless in the Decatur area may be placed into transitional housing or a homeless shelter, then apply for a security deposit programs or help with first month's rent. There is also landlord/tenant mediation available as well as other forms of rent assistance for qualified households.
