Free back to school supply assistance programs help low income families and students in the Boston region. There are charities and churches in Middlesex as well as Suffolk County that give out uniforms, clothes, backpacks, notebooks, laptops, Chromebooks and many other types of free school supplies. The list below is a sampling, and find other free clothing closets in Suffolk County as well as Middlesex County free clothing closets.

Items are often given away in the summer and fall to students from all grades, races, religions, languages, as well as immigrants. The low income school supply programs can provide kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school students with many different types of items.

There may be pens or pencils; book bags or backpacks; clothes like shoes, sneakers, socks, belts, pants, and more; laptops or free computers; highlighters, glue, and so much more. Students under 12 can sign up for the back to school party. Free supplies, pens, notebooks, and other good are offered. ESL classes, school supplies are given to immigrants, and more. They also arrange tutoring, bookbags, computer labs, and after school snacks.

Hope Fellowship Church

A number of resources are offered for Middlesex County. Food, clothes, meals or free school supplies for students, shelter and more. Donated clothes, bags, and uniforms are part of the school supply events.

Salvation Army Back to School Supply events
There are multiple events and locations in Suffolk as well as Middlesex County. The faith based charity helps students age 17 and younger. Free school supplies, hygiene or personal goods, clothes, and more are offered. They partner with stores to give out gift cards, help minorities and immigrants, and do what they can for educational needs. They also work with corporations and charities to give out free haircuts, laptops for distance learning and gift cards to parents. Natick Service Council – Backpack, Seasonal and Holiday Program

A fall backpack program is for children, teens, and even adults going to college. There is a holiday program, birthday assistance (toys), gifts, paper goods and more.

They offer many assistance programs. For the school year is the regional as well as national Operation Backpack. It is run in partnership with non-profits.  Students from K-12 can get notebooks, hygiene supplies, free uniforms, calculators and many other school supplies.

YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts

They run an assistance program known as Backpack Project. It gives free school supplies to kids from all grades. Singe parents (including moms) can get free school supplies as well as backpacks. There are items for immigrants, winter jackets, school uniforms, sneakers, and so much more.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (Middlesex and Suffolk County)
There are multiple locations of SVDP. Thrift stores, clothing and furniture banks, school supply parties and giveaways, and other events.
