Find how and where to get free stuff including furniture, clothes, appliances, back to school supplies and other goods in the Boston Massachusetts region. Charities, churches, and non-profits help low income families, the disabled, and elderly among others. There are clothes given to workers, free school supplies, diapers, furniture, computers for students, winter coats and many other goods. A number of non-profits, charities, and other organizations are committed to helping the less fortunate. There may be free clothes for the working poor, unemployed or furniture for formerly homeless. The agencies help people meet their needs and make it through a difficult period.

The centers rely heavily on donations from the community (including Suffolk County) so resources will vary. The Boston free furniture and clothing banks may have free winter coats, work suits, school supplies, baby supplies (diapers and formula), bedroom sets, couches, and free Christmas toys and gifts among other stuff. Many Suffolk County centers are focused on assisting children, seniors, and those families who are out of options.

Some sites may offer other assistance such as employment services or limited amount of financial support for everyday living costs. Of particular focus is on providing assistance during the winter, and free winter coats may be given during that time frame.

Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD)
This is a non-profit community action agency with locations across Suffolk County and Boston. They provide adult and children's clothing, case management, and a variety of other assistance programs, even including stuff like furniture, laptops, or items for students in school. This can include heating bill and rent assistance, baby formula, applications for public assistance and much more.

Some other services can include GED instruction, free English as a second language classes, tutoring services, and early intervention for children. they also help kindergarten through high school students by given them free school supplies for the year. Job development and placement assistance is offered at some centers, as well as work clothing such as suits or dresses.

Salvation Army of Eastern Massachusetts and Boston area
A number of social services are offered from different locations. A free clothing closet and furniture bank is open. Free Christmas assistance includes toys and gifts for children and seniors from the Angel Tree program and Adopt a Family. Also get school supplies, shoes, winter boots, Chromebooks and more. A low cost thrift store may sell vintage goods, books, and basic furniture items. Some money for heating bills and rent may be offered too as well as other information and referrals.
