Free back to school supply assistance programs is available across the Triad, including Winston Salem and Greensboro NC. Struggling families can get the stuff their kids need, including a backpack, Chromebook, notebooks, writing material, clothes and more. Not only can students in grades K-12 get what they need (based on resources), but there are also free classroom supplies for teachers in the public schools. This in effect means that kids can get what they need (protractors, calculators, lunch boxes, etc.) based on grade, but teachers can also get the items they need such as dry erasers, construction paper and more. There are also free school uniforms including from clothing closets in Guilford and Forsyth County.

A number of churches and charities (as well as companies) in the region give out school supplies to low-income families, people with little or no money and even the homeless. In general, the programs are available for students in publish school of Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford and nearby counties.

A wide variety of assistance programs are offered in Guilford County, with a focus on kids. There are free school supplies, clothes, sneakers, backpacks, and food programs. They also give out tech products for remote learning, such as Chromebooks, and help kids get reading and writing material. The non-profit helps kids from Kindergarten to High School.

This is a “client choice” store in which teachers in all Guilford County public schools can get the supplies they need for their classroom.

 

 

 

The Educator Warehouse of Forsyth County
This is a similar program to the above, however it is for teachers in the Winston Salem school districts. They can get free supplies needed for their classroom. Greensboro Urban Ministry

The volunteer driven organization has many programs for Guilford County. There are free school supply programs in which everything from clothes to binders, information on free or low-cost internet and tablet programs, backpacks and more are offered. They also have vouchers, financial aid and more.

Helping Hands High Point

Students in the High Point public schools can register for free school supplies. Books, sneakers, jackets, backpacks, notepads, writing material and more are free.

Gethsemane Baptist Church

A free school supply program is arranged for people in the immediate neighborhood. They also have a food pantry and meals. Get clothes for kids of all ages, sneakers, pens, crayons, and other goods.

Wallburg Baptist Church

Students in local schools can get free personal hygiene supplies and school supplies as well as clothes. The inventory of what is given out changes, based on donations.

Salvation Army programs in Piedmont Triad area
Free stuff is given away seasonally, including during the back to school supply shopping season. Low-income parents, the unemployed and others with kids in local schools, whether Greensboro, High Point or nearby cities can get help. The Forsyth County community action agency helps low-income adults. Self-sufficiency is a focus, and there are free school supplies, work clothes (or for training) and more – for both the children of the client and adult if applicable.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church

Free school supply events
There are several annual events held in Guilford County. They tend to be one day events in which families with kids are provided a free backpack full of supplies (based on their). There are also generally free personal toiletries given out, haircuts to students for the new school year, physicals and more. Companies as well as charity organizations arrange these events.
