Free holiday assistance in Tuscaloosa County area.

There are three main agencies in the general Tuscaloosa County region that offer assistance during the holidays. The programs include free Christmas gifts and toys for children; meals, food, or turkey dinners for families; visits to the elderly or homebound; and holiday parties. Find where to get help at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other key holidays.

As far as the places to go, they include Toys for Tots, the Salvation Army, and local churches that are part of Catholic Services. Those are the four primary charities that offer help to the low income, working poor, and people in a crisis. What may be passed out includes free toys, books, games, and gifts for children. Free food, including turkeys and all the ingredients, may be offered from Adopt a Family along with gift certificates. There are also other resources too.

Note all of these holiday assistance programs rely on donations of toys, clothes or food from the community; without the support of businesses and individuals in Tuscaloosa Alabama no assistance will be offered. All programs are first come-served as well.

The United States Marine Corps overseas the regional Toys for tots service. It is for low income families (including single parents or the disabled on a fixed income) who live in Tuscaloosa, Hale, Greene, or Pickens County Alabama. The Salvation Army – This is always a leading social service and holiday assistance charity. Thousands of low income families may get help each year. Assistance programs include a free food pantry, Angel Tree for free toys at Christmas, financial aid, shelter, and hot meals. They spread Thanksgiving and Christmas cheer throughout the community.
