Several churches, non-profits, and government organizations focus on providing seniors, the unemployed, and low income families with funds to pay their rent if they are faced with an eviction. Other agencies may offer moving cost assistance, or money for security deposits.

The leading resources for rent help in Hays County are noted below. Call an organization near you to learn about the application process. Unfortunately most agencies do have limited funding and may have a waiting list in place, but this should not discourage you from exploring all available rental assistance programs and organizations.

Non-profit organization that can offer rent or housing help to people who live in the Wimberley Independent School District only. The agency may have limited assistance for rental costs, mortgage, electric and water.  At the heart of the non-profits work is a volunteer-staffed phone-based resource referral service that connects clients in need with resources to help them, including housing or shelters.

Make an appointment to learn about and apply for emergency financial assistance for rent, rental and security deposits, utilities, and more. Services are offered for low income people living within parish boundaries in the Wimberley Texas area.

Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, or rent subsidized apartments, are available in Hays County Texas. Government entities provide vouchers to help pay for housing costs. Clients include seniors, the disabled, single moms, or working poor. There is also public housing, self-sufficiency, home buying services, and long term rent help. There is a referral service in place that Hays County Texas tenants and homeowners can call. Churches and charities run the homeless prevention program. Get financial help for everything from back rent to lease application fees, free motel vouchers or moving cost help. Aid is for people faced with an imminent eviction or the currently homeless. Loaves and Fishes Outreach Ministry
Only up to $30 may be provided, when funds are available. A signup takes place on Tuesdays. Even though they are based in Austin, coverage is for Hays County.
If you are faced with an eviction or foreclosure, the non-profit offers limited amounts of emergency financial assistance for paying rent or mortgage loans. The primary goal is to prevent an eviction. However if you need funds for moving, they may also be able to offer money for first month's rent, security deposits, or utility connection deposits.
