Help with rent in Polk County Florida.

In an effort to reduce evictions, non-profit agencies, churches and government social services in Polk County provide short term rent help to income qualified families. Resources in the region range from grants for senior citizens to no interest loans for working poor families with an income. Individuals that need to move or that are homeless can also apply for security deposit help as well as turn to a charity for funds for paying their first months rent.

No matter the situation, staff at these organizations will try to help the Polk County resident avoid homelessness. So they will assist them in applying for rental programs, or they may offer referrals to section 8 vouchers or other government programs. Other options in the county can include, but are not limited too, free legal aid to address tenant and landlord disputes, transitional housing, or federal grants for back rent.

While they do offer financial aid, including for rent to people facing a crisis such as an illness, the tenant needs a referral. Support is only offered when a social worker or agent from a non-profit refers the client to the Ledger.

Salvation Army - Social Services has two offices. They can place a client into emergency shelter. There is housing for seniors as well as single parents. Help for rent and other needs is for immigrants, migrants, and farm workers. They also can help them locate a home to live in, provide job placement, and other support. ALPI tries to prevent homelessness by offering mortgage, rent, and transitional housing.
