How to Save Money

Northern North Carolina rent assistance programs.

Locate resources for paying rent that may be available to residents of the counties in the northern part of the state, including Warren, Vance, Person, Franklin as well as Granville. Most of the non-profit agencies extend their programs across that entire region, as they all work together to prevent homelessness by offering housing as well as one time rental assistance.

The primary agencies to call are below. They will also have information on other charities in the region. This is done as there are several churches in the area, such as Person, that will offer a very small amount of money for rent or other housing related expenses. Those sites will only take referrals from another non-profit.

The northern counties are also supported by statewide resource. These range from free legal aid to section 8 vouchers to some of the grant based programs resources for paying a portion of any rent arrears. More information on those are below as well.

Salvation Army Social Services
There are a few centers for the region. From time to time there will be small amounts of funding available for expenses such as rent, heating bills for senior citizens, or shelter services. Another housing expense will be for water bills. In some cases, the center may provide a loan to the tenant for any back rent they owe.
