Free holiday assistance programs for Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk County.

Families from Suffolk and Nassau County can receive holiday assistance from several charities or churches that are located across Long Island. Help can be offered in the form of a free Christmas gift, meal, food basket or toy as well as Thanksgiving turkey dinners. Most of the goods are offered to children from the community, with a secondary focus being on assisting senior citizens. There is also the regional Toys for Tots Christmas gift program for children and teenagers as well as Angel Tree programs on Long Island.

With the challenging economy and low income households struggling, many families struggle to provide for their families at Christmas or Thanksgiving. Charities, churches, and non-profits would like residents from Long Island to have some type of holiday joy, so they try to provide assistance such as free gifts or food, even including Turkey dinners. The programs also rely on volunteers and donations, so please contribute if you can.

Qualified families can receive free gifts, clothes, clothing, hot meals and much more. Other aid may be offered from referrals, including to the Salvation Army. There are several other resources in which the Salvation Army helps at Christmas, including Angel Tree. Thousands of individuals and children from the region benefit from the generosity of these programs every year.
