Charities and churches provide help to low income families including the unemployed, immigrants, and single mothers. The distribution centers open today and drive thru food banks offer free grocery boxes, information on applying for government benefits such as SNAP food stamps or WIC vouchers, and also cat or dog food. Free food pantries as well as soup kitchens also offer seasonal programs ranging from free Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas meals to Easter baskets in Maricopa County. There are dozens of sites that are part of the Maricopa Community Action Agency network.
