Food banks and free food pantries or soup kitchens in Phoenix and Maricopa County.

Phoenix Arizona and Maricopa County non-profit food banks as well as free pantries near you provide resources to families who need help, including the unemployed, low income, immigrants, and disadvantaged. They can offer direct food assistance, information on applying for government programs such as SNAP food stamps or WIC vouchers, and many can even provide limited amounts of financial aid. Seasonal programs ranging from free Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to Easter baskets are also offered in Maricopa County. A toll free referral number is at the bottom of the page as well for more information.

The demand for all types of assistance is very high. Many of the pantries rely on donations, so resources will be limited. Most locations will do their best to not turn anyone away and also help Spanish speakers and Hispanics. If you need help, including hot meals, baby formula, diapers, personal hygiene supplies, and canned goods, call a Maricopa County Arizona center below. Some may even have clothing, furniture, free household cleaning items, or administer holiday, Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance programs.

The region is served by several dozen main centers, some of which focus on helping immigrants (legal or undocumented) as well. However even if there is not one in your immediate neighborhood, call the nearest food pantry in Maricopa County. They may be able to refer you to a nearby church, charity, Salvation Army, or another non-profit in your area for assistance. In addition, many centers have staff or volunteers on site that can help people apply for government food programs from the federal government, city of Phoenix or state of Arizona.
