Thousands of seniors in Louisiana receive some form of help from Council on Aging, which are part of the federally funded Area Agency on Aging office as well as Office of Aging and Adult Services. The offices are a combination of non-profit and government funded, with a variety variety of help for seniors citizens over the age of 60 to 70, including community meals, free personal care items and money from the government for medical, housing and more.

Financial help for seniors from Council on Aging

Many senior citizens need information, referrals, and financial assistance. Your local agency on aging center can provide answers to questions dealing with a range of topics. Trained counselors are available to answer questions, make appropriate recommendations for suitable services, provide a thorough assessment of needs, and can refer senior citizens, whether they are over age 55, 60 or 70.
