Head Start and Early Head in Clark County NV: What it offers and where to apply.

Find information on the organizations in Las Vegas NV and the county that administer the Head Start and Early Head Start (EHS). These programs are free to residents as they are federally funded with the goal to help low-income families build strong foundations for learning and health from birth to age five. Call one of the non-profits below to learn more about, or apply for, the Head Start or Early Head start program in Clark County NV.

In Las Vegas (which includes the area of the broader valley, including North Las Vegas and Henderson), classroom-based Head Start for ages 3-5 is delivered by Acelero Learning Clark County. The other option, Sunrise Children’s Foundation (SCF) delivers Early Head Start (EHS) for pregnant people, infants, and toddlers up to age 3.

Who qualifies in Clark County NV. Head Start and EHS serve families (as well as single parents) at or below the federal poverty guidelines. There are exceptions though as children in Clark County NV are also categorically eligible regardless of income if they are in foster care, experiencing homelessness, or if the family receives TANF, SSI, or SNAP food stamps. Programs also prioritize children with disabilities and developmental delays.

What families receive. Services include early learning. It is high quality as they involve research-based curriculum. Children will access health and developmental screenings, nutritious meals, mental health and disability supports, and robust family engagement. A major benefit is free medical or dental care for kids.

  • As the parent of the kid gets help from Head Start too. The centers in Clark County help with goal-setting, parent leadership opportunities, and help connecting to employment, training, and benefits. Programs also emphasize healthy eating and link families to resources like WIC for healthy and nutritious food, including a list of food pantries for groceries in Las Vegas. The parents may be able to use the Head Start program to gain long term self-sufficiency.

Where Head Start services operate in Las Vegas and the county: Acelero Learning runs the Clark County Head centers;. In addition, while not all, but some sites also offer Early Head Start (for infant - toddlers) and extended-day care for working or student parents. Again this is for kids age 3 to 5.

  • Sunrise Children’s Foundation, SCF, focuses on Early Head Start and the organization operates multiple EHS campuses (center-based and home-based) across the valley. Hours vary by location; several Acelero sites offer extended-day options.

 

 

 

When to enroll. Applications are accepted year-round, with placement based on eligibility, available seats, and waiting lists based on the number of Clark County NV applicants. School-day schedules differ by site; check each center’s page for hours and any extended-day availability.

How to apply for Head Start or Early Head Start in the Las Vegas NV area.

After finding a location close to where you live in Clark County, contact the center to confirm documents (child’s age, proof of income or categorical eligibility, immunizations/residency) and program options. All this can be done online or through a phone call. As noted, the demand is high and resources are limited. However any parent can submit their application.
