The Johnson County Kansas community is served by several clothing closets that offer free winter or summer clothes, school supplies, work attire, and more. There are also several low priced thrift stores. Families can turn to these centers for assistance with needs ranging from free clothes, diapers, back to school items, and even some holiday support.

The main facilities in the region are below. Each is focused on a certain area and have a limited supply of items to give out. There will be an application process in place, and some of the programs (such as for school uniforms or supplies) are seasonal. Applications are needed, even from residents living in poverty.

When applying for help from a clothing closet in Johnson County, also note proof of income is needed and the goods offered vary. Whether it is a free winter coat for a child or senior, or clothes for work or Christmas, the charities that operate these will try to help. There are also vouchers for medications or clothes, diapers for single moms, maternity clothing, counseling, and food boxes too. Students from low income families may also be given free school supplies, bags, shoes, and other items.

Many programs for working poor families are administered. There is a general clothing provision and Christmas toys from Angel Tree. A thrift store has furniture and an annual, free back to school item programs run.

A winter coat drive takes place. Other services include funds to pay rent or bills, holiday meals, case management, and clothes or blankets for the homeless. Job seekers may also be given suits, pants, or attire for an interview and maybe a ride too.
