Qualified applicants and those who are enrolled will be able to access a number of other resources that are offered. For example, free meals, case management, and information on employment programs all may be provided. Some of the non-profits will also offer rapid rehousing services. This can include funds to pay security deposits or first month’s rent and otherwise help the client get situated into a new home.
As many people know the cost of rent is very high in Hudson County. So residents should truly ask for assistance before they even start to fall behind. Do not wait until you are homeless before requesting help from a non-profit or government organization.

The resource known as the Mt Carmel Guild Housing Services offers transitional housing. In addition, clients can work with a social worker to locate permanent housing. Assistance is for the currently homeless families with children, seniors, and children. Many of the applicants are ineligible for entitlement and government benefit programs such as section 8. The program also tries to help homeless families stabilize their housing and living situation in the community. Each family who is successfully enrolled will be assigned a caseworker for intake to determine their specific needs in a host of areas, including substance-abuse counseling, employment, housing, and mental-health issues.

The center can house them for up to two years.
