Funding for this emergency service program is very limited, and it is relevant to the applicants need for crisis assistance, and is not available at certain times of the year. The community action agency also partners with the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs as well as the Hays Caldwell Women's Center.

Salvation Army - San Marco and Hays County is at ((512) 754-8541). The charity will be able to offer the following emergency services. There is immediate financial assistance on a case by case basis when funds and supplies are available. The charity will help with limited nonperishable free food boxes. Or get partial financial assistance for paying electric bills, water or gas bills.

Some qualified clients, including veterans or low-income seniors, can get free gasoline vouchers for medical appointments only and single-use and monthly bus passes. Furniture when available may also be offered. There are also free Christmas toys for kids from Angel Tree, a homeless shelter as well as back to school supplies for kids from age K-12. Applicants must live in the WISD area to receive financial support, however for people that don’t, they have a data bank of resources for Hays County Texas that they can refer residents to.

The charity organization provides limited payment assistance for basic needs such as mortgage, medical bills, rent, and prescription drugs. Helping Hands Of Dripping Springs, Inc. - A free food pantry is administered, with priority given to seniors, mothers with young children, and children. The non-profit also provides limited emergency assistance for prescriptions, utility bills, mortgage, rent, and even health care needs. Funding is limited. San Marcos - Santa Cruz Catholic Church Buda is the Society Of St. Vincent De Paul. The faith based group may have financial assistance every six months. Expenses that can be paid for include rent, mortgage, utilities such as electric, water, and gas bills. Free vouchers for furniture, household stuff and clothing may be distributed and can be used at the nearby St. Vincent de Paul Store. Location is 624 East Hopkins Street, San Marcos, Texas.   • St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church is also a Society Of St. Vincent De Paul member. Dial (512)858-5667 to reach this Dripping Springs Texas church. Offers all of the same programs as the church above, but also has a food pantry. There is also a free soup kitchen for hot meals, places to stay for the homeless, and free hygiene stuff.

Non-profit rental programs and assistance - Families who are faced with an eviction, and who have no other options, can contact one of the non-profit agencies that specialize in addressing housing needs. Health & Human Services Department of Hays County provides public assistance. There is cash assistance from TANF as well as free government health insurance from Medicaid. Communicare Health Centers San Marco Clinic provides medical services and charges patients based on a sliding scale. Among other services they provide primary health and medical care for adults and children. There is also medical care for women’s health issues in Hays County TX. In addition to the financial programs noted above, the Community Action Incorporated of Hays County also provides medical care. They run a clinic that provides primary health care diagnosis and treatment for women and men with low income or who are unemployed. The Hays County Area Food Bank runs a food distribution site for people in need of help. Clients are eligible to attend two distributions of free food per week, even today.
