Rent Help in the Bronx — Emergency Assistance, Eviction Prevention, and Free Legal Aid

The Bronx historically has one of the highest eviction filing rates of any county in the country. The rental assistance programs to address it are more developed than in most places — but they're also zip-code-dependent, funding-dependent, and often serve different populations. What helps one household may not apply to another.

Emergency rent grants, Homebase eviction prevention services, deposit help and free tenant legal representation are all available in the Bronx. This page lists verified contacts across all of these, organized so you can find what fits your situation. For details on organizations that cover the entire city - all five boroughs, see the NYC rental assistance program page.
