Food banks and free pantries in Bexar County and San Antonio Texas.

If you need food for you or your family or applications to public benefits such as SNAP, call or stop by a food bank or pantry in Bexar County and/or San Antonio Texas. Several different non-profits, churches, and centers operate across the region and help thousands of people every day. There are free food pantries near you, soup kitchens, feeding sites for kids, USDA resources, and other assistance in the San Antonio area.

It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of families in the greater Bexar County and San Antonio area can qualify for free food from either the government or a pantry. What may be offered ranges from canned groceries, to baby formula, Meals on wheels for seniors, food for immigrants, and fresh perishable items. There are also free Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter meals in Bexar County.

Many people can get help from one of the food banks, churches, or charities located below, or maybe a federal government program or state of Texas program. There is a referral line at the bottom of the page for more food assistance programs. For example, social workers and case managers at many pantries can direct families to summer meal programs for their children, SNAP food stamps, and similar resources.

People should not need to decide between feeding their families, or paying for a medical or utility bill. During a difficult period be sure to stop by a free emergency food pantry or soup kitchen. Learn how you can get free food, a hot meal, groceries, or other forms of assistance.

Assistance is offered from both Individual and Family Services as well as related programs. Specifically, food and grocery assistance is offered for the low income and the economically disadvantaged residing in Bexar County and San Antonio.

Agape Ministry Emergency Assistance Program
Provides free food to people who reside in the following zip codes: 78217, 78218, 78239, 78209, 78219, 78233, 78244, 78247, and 78154;
In addition, other aid is offered, including government benefits. In order to qualify, the client of the program must be receiving food stamps to qualify for utility assistance and WIC (if applicable).

Emergency boxes of food, Christmas and Thanksgiving meals or turkeys, groceries, and other support is available in Bexar County. They also help families in poverty apply for cash aid, WIC vouchers, food stamps, and government benefits.

Churches in San Antonio and the county offer help. Many operate small, emergency food pantries that may be near you. This is a free service. Anyone can call. Learn about food banks, financial aid, medical care, and other resources. There is free food for children, seniors, the disabled, and anyone in need. Hispanic Religious Partnership
They run the so called HELP Program, which offers Emergency Food. Your income needs to be 200% of the federal government poverty level or less. Mexicans, Latinos, and Spanish speakers can get food and meals for their culture.

Inman Christian Center runs the Inman Food Pantry
Call the center for information on free food. Emergency food assistance provided 10:00 - 2:00 weekdays. Fruits, vegetables, canned goods, and formula may be available.
