Travis County and the city of Austin has schools that offer low income assistance programs. Students can turn to their district for help, including pens, pencils, highlighters, calculators, backpacks, electronics, and other items. There are also churches and charities, like the Salvation Army in Austin, which also give away from school supplies. In general, the free items are for children, students, immigrants, and others in need.

Apply early for assistance. Or donate when possible. As the need for school supplies is also high and in demand. But even when supplies go, some clothes may be offered to students such as sneakers, shoes, pants, socks, dresses and much more.
