Free clothing closets, furniture and school supplies in the Austin Texas region.

Residents of Austin, Travis, and Williamson County can receive free clothes and household goods from churches, clothing closets, and other charities. There may also be free furniture banks for household goods, free back to school supplies or uniforms, job interview attire, diapers and more. The exact type of goods available at each location will change and depend on donations and contributions from people in the community.

Almost all centers in Austin region as well as Travis County will have some type of basic clothing items. This can include shoes, belts, outerwear, or shirts. Some of the clothing closets will try to focus on meeting specific needs. For example, they may provide clothing for children to use for school. Or locations may offer suits, dresses, or more professional attire for individuals looking for a job or who are going on an interview. Other locations may have baby or maternity clothes, school supplies, furniture such as couches or distribute free Christmas gifts and toys.

The hours of each center are limited, and qualifications may need to be met by applicants. It is recommended to call a location near you for a free furniture bank or clothing closet. They can usually refer a client to another location if they can’t satisfy your need.
