Free food pantries, groceries, and meals Austin Texas and Travis County.

Get information on Austin and Travis County food banks, soup kitchen and free pantries. There are dozens of charities, churches, and non-profits that work to prevent hunger and that are open today. Get free groceries, personal toiletries, hot meals and more. Find a free food pantry near you in Austin County.

Shelf-stable food and groceries are given out. Or Travis County residents can apply for SNAP food stamps, free school lunches, Meals on Wheels (for seniors or disabled) and more. There are also free Thanksgiving as well as Christmas meal programs, baby formula, dog or cat food or nutritional supplements for the elderly. Or locate emergency food stamps near you. The food banks as well as pantries in the Austin Texas area that operate have various criteria that need to be met in order to receive food, a hot meal, or household supplies today. However very few people are turned away from help. Even if a pantry does not have resources available, the staff will try to offer other solutions. Each distribution center will operate under different conditions, with many free drive thru pantries also available in Travis County. You may need to call to make an appointment for some centers, and others operate under limited hours.

Salvation Army Social Services in Travis County
There are multiple food pantries as well as soup kitchens from all sites in the county. Meals are for the homeless. Other food and financial aid may help veterans, seniors citizens, and the disabled in Travis County. They also have the Angel Tree gift and Christmas meal program. Or free Thanksgiving dinner, summer camp, and Christmas meals as well as free holiday food baskets. Free hygiene supplies or household items too, such as toilet paper or detergent, may be offered. There are multiple assistance programs. One is the Soup Kitchen – free lunch and hot meals, center hours are Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. There are also Senior Brown Bags, holiday meals, Meals on Wheels for the homebound or disabled and other aid. Or get applications to surplus USDA commodities like cheese, eggs, and nutrition for kids (or seniors).

Based on donations, get everything from canned and shelf stable foods, eggs, cereal, fresh eggs, frozen meat, infant formula and fresh fruit and vegetables. A couple bags of free, emergency food may be offered by the pantry as well as clothes, referrals, and social services.
