There are distribution centers that give away free groceries, canned goods, perishable items and soup also have soup kitchens for hot meals. Many of food banks in Arkansas are open daily, even today, and a large number have a drive thru pantry as well. They also feed struggling seniors and homebound residents through Meals on Wheels. The food pantries in Arkansas will do their best to meet the emergency as well as long term needs of struggling people, including providing applications to emergency SNAP, USDA snacks for kids and more. There are also pet food banks in Arkansas that help feed cats or dogs. Staff at the food banks also help people with applications to an EBT card as well as show people how to get an emergency food stamps application for a crisis.

The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is also a place for information. The state non-profit works with the government and local charities to try to help feed anyone in need. Northwest Arkansas Food Bank works with dozens of churches, food pantries, feeding kitchens and other distribution centers. They cover the counties of Madison, Benton, Carrol and Washington. Working with the community, including local farmers, they give away shelf-stable foods that people can cook, groceries, fruit, baby formula and help in other ways. River Valley Regional Food Bank is based at 1420 N. 32nd Street, Ft. Smith, Arkansas, 72914. Pantry phone number is 479.785.0582. Western Arkansas is covered. A wide variety of programs are offered to feed the unemployed, disabled, veterans, and poor. Programs include WIC - Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children and free food for seniors.

  • Local pantries/partners, offer baby formula, cereal, holiday food baskets and other goods. There are also farmer markets and USDA commodities like cheese, dairy and other goods. Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas has school pantries, fresh produce, Meals on Wheels and a senior pantry. A number of counties are assisted, including Randolph, Clayton, Greene, Lawrence, Mississippi, Craighead, Poinsett, Jackson, Cross, Woodruff, St. Francis, and Frettenden. Arkansas Foodbank provides assistance in all of central and southern AR, including the Little Rock metro area. It offers groceries, government commodities, and other support to pantries in the region.. They also have free cooking classes, pop up pantries and more.

  • Additional services include a USDA nutrition program that focuses on low income seniors and children, partnerships with local pantries, soup kitchens, food banks and shelters as well as a Summer Food Service Program.   • Harvest Regional Food Bank, Inc. is based at 3120 East 19th Street, Texarkana, AR 71854 and focuses on Southwest Arkansas. The counties include Bowie, Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada, Pike and Sevier County.

Free food banks in ArkansasLow-income families, single mothers, boxes of groceries and more is for people who are low income. They also focus on helping children, disabled, or elderly members. Mid-South Food Bank is a regional Feeding America distribution center that covers parts of Arkansas. The homeless, working poor, and other will get assistance. Food Bank of North Central Arkansas (NCA) is a major distribution site in the region. The address is 1042 Highland Cir, Mountain Home, AR 72653.  In addition to a box of food, some items like clothing or free holiday meals may be served to the low income, poor, and homeless. Low income families can also get information on public assistance programs such as food stamps, also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Anyone seeking help or a meal can get assistance.

  • Other NCA programs available include outreach, free Meals on Wheels, senior-friendly foods, surplus USDA commodities and a pet food pantry for the elderly in the area.
