Albemarle County food pantries.

Whether it is a free box of food or household supplies, there are charities in Albemarle County that operate pantries. The centers will provide the needy with fresh or canned groceries, infant formula, paper products, diapers, and much more. Many of the food banks in the Charlottesville area also provide other basic needs, including clothing or Christmas toys, at the same time they feed the family.

The services administered are very diverse. While much of the assistance from the regional food pantries is around hunger, some may from time to time offer financial aid or shelters too. But this is not as common and is more of a secondary service. What may be more widely available are applications to SNAP food stamps and other state of Virginia public aid programs. The hours of these Albemarle County pantries are limited, and it is recommended to call in advance.
