The food pantries in Vigo County are run by a wide range of agencies. Churches, non-profits, local towns, and social service offices help to feed the working poor and others. They try to not turn anyone in need away, but sometimes a pantry will need to offer referrals to an alternate location.
The programs administered from each location vary. Most will have free bags of groceries, while some serve meals, including at Christmas or Thanksgiving. There are also non-profit run pantries in Terre Haute that may provide other assistance programs, such as money for rent or energy bills, applications to SNAP food stamps, shelter and more.
