An organization that coordinates federal and state government programs, that offers grant money to pay bills or housing costs to local residents is Tableland Services, Inc. Housing assistance - including rent and mortgage help

Mortgage Relief and Foreclosure Prevention is for homeowners who are delinquent on their mortgage. Counselors will conduct confidential one-on-one sessions with the homeowner in Somerset County. They will explore the main reasons for the default on the home loan, conduct a detailed budget analysis with the homeowner, verify the amount owed in arrears, and serve as a liaison between the mortgage company, their loan servicer and the homeowner. Some of what will be explored includes repayment plans, loan modifications, special forbearance, and deed-in-lieu. Some free legal advice may also be offered as well by legal aid in Pennsylvania.

 

 

 

Community Action Homeless Prevention Rapid Rehousing Program (HPRRP) is also combined with ESA grants in Somerset County. It can help people who are facing an eviction pay their rent or utility bills. Tableland Services community action can help these people get caught up with back rent and other housing expenses. Or funds can be used for relocation expenses, past due balances on utilities and shut-off notices, and money is even available for such costs as storage unit fees and emergency shelter.Tableland Services energy assistance includes both LIHEAP grant money and weatherization. This is a form of financial help to pay utility bills as well as energy focused home repairs.

The non-profit does not offer support themselves, but rather they realize it is very difficult to get affordable health care or insurance's. A food pantry gives out free food boxes and other stuff. People with special dietary needs can get help too. Tableland Services community action will try to arrange food for senior citizens, such as items to meet low salt diets. Or there can be free infant formula for low income moms with newborns. The pantry will pass out these items monthly to qualified families. The supply is always limited, as unfortunately the donations of special dietary items is more limed. So while the pantry may struggle get enough of the proper food items to people with special dietary needs, the effort will be made.

Early Development Childcare, Head Start and Preschool Program is for newborns and infants. Tableland Services clients can get referrals to local centers that offer support to kids. There are locations that specialize in offering care for toddlers, infants and pre-school children. Local non-profits and Head Start have formed a partnership to support the youth from households meeting poverty guidelines.

Together these programs bring a high standard of preschool education. There is also free meals coupled with nutrition and medical needs met. This includes basic health, mental health and social services support to the children that are placed into the classrooms.

Tableland Services has a few different low cost transportation services.
