Free car in South Carolina.

There are a few places where it may be possible to get a free car in South Carolina. Most of the charity organizations accept donated vehicles from the public and then give them out to qualified low-income families (or people) for work or other employment needs. Find where you may be able to get a free car in SC in your community, including the Midlands, Upstate area or low-country.

In addition to possibility providing a free car or truck, some of the assistance programs in South Carolina may be able to  fix a vehicle for free. A few churches and volunteer auto mechanics provide this service. This is in effect equivalent to a free car as it will bring the existing vehicle back into drivable conditions. Note that all resources are limited, come with strict application processes and programs vary based on many factors - even including what types of vehicles have been donated from the community to be given away.

Columbia and Midlands area free car programs

The Cooperative Ministry focuses on helping people become self-sufficient, and part of that is by offering help with transportation needs. The churches that are part of the ministry accept donations from the community and, as a result, they try to fix up a car and give it out to people in need.

  • Most of the vehicles are free and/or will have a minimal cost. The Cooperative Ministry also combines that with budgeting help, career counseling, free gas cards and more. Area Churches Together Serving (ACTS) also has a car program and is based in Aiken SC. Free vehicles may be given out to people that already have a job but are facing a hardship. This is offered across all the Midlands, including Aiken, Richland, York and other counties.

  • As maybe their current vehicle broke down or has other issues, and in those cases the Aiken based ACTS will give out a free car or truck to ensure the low-income client still has transportation for work. Greenville SC area free vehicle programs

Miracle Hill Ministries will try to give very low cost loans, with help for a car, to existing clients. The program is known as Bridge to Wheel. There is transportation help for formerly homeless and low-income families in Greenville County. Sunbelt Human Advancement Resources (SHARE) offers a number of assistance programs, including transportation, information on employment and more. As part of this, the non-profit will try to give out free or low-cost cars, trucks, vans and more for job seekers. This includes the Ladder Program, Community Service Block Grants and more. Rock Hills and York County, which is the far upstate area, has a free car programavailable from time to time, based on resources. It is offered from the York Baptist Association. The charity, often called Kingdom Cars, tries to give a vehicle to the working poor, formerly homeless and others that are currently working but struggling with transportation. Possible free statewide vehicle programs in South Carolina

Free Charity Cars of SC, or FCC, operates in Greenville, Charleston and Columbia. The program also covers other nearby communities. The national non-profit aims to provide free vehicles to people on government benefits (SNAP, Medicaid, etc.), very low-income families, single moms or dads in SC and other. Churches and charities often try to either fix a car for free or they take donated vehicles and then give them away. Many of the faith based groups in SC give away vehicles to single moms, veterans, people looking for a job and low-income seniors who need a vehicle for doctor's appointments. There are several churches in the Charleston SC area and tri-county with transportation. In addition, free vehicles and repairs are offered by churches in Greenville County for local residents.

 

 

 

Goodwill Industries of has locations in the Upstate, Charleston and of course central SC. Most sites have a vehicle donation specialist on site. The locations will take older, gently used vehicles from the public (or community) and the cars can either be sold (at a very low price) to a client or given away. The exact terms and conditions of each program will vary, but these Goodwill locations in SC are another place for a free car, van, truck for work or other transportation.
