Free school supply programs in Charleston South Carolina area.

There are ways to get help with paying for or free school supplies in the Charleston South Carolina region, including the counties or Dorchester as well as Berkeley. Kids from grade K to 12 will get vouchers or assistance from charity giveaways. Find places that give free uniforms, backpacks, tablets or laptops or other free school supply programs in the Charleston SC community.

A variety of school supplies may be given out to low income parents or those in a financial emergency. Depending on the program and charity, what may be offered includes backpacks; College-ruled binder paper; Pencil sharpeners; Highlighters; pencils; Elmer’s Glue; Pens; crayons; glue; Calculators; Color markers; Pencil box; Scissors; Binder dividers and more. Charleston and Dorchester/Summerville area agencies may also give clothing items for school like shoes, uniforms, jackets, and more.

Palmetto Community Action Partnership

The community action agency runs a program known as the Youth Education Enrichment Program. Everything from summer camps to free school supplies, uniforms for low income children (kindergarten to high school) and more may be given out.

Local churches and Catholic Charities in Charleston and Tri-County area

They administer Adopt A School and Student Programs as well as holiday given. There are free clothes from a “general” clothing provision, school supplies, and more. Other goods can even be offered too, including free furniture (desks, chairs, etc.), teacher supplies, and many other items.

Lowcountry Orphan Relief, Inc.

They only help orphans and parents who adopt kids (foster parents). Call (843) 747-4099. There will be up to 2 weeks of free clothes given to students, hygiene products, and other supplies.

Teachers Supply Closet

The organization provides free classroom supplies to struggling teachers in all 3 counties. They can get what they need for their classroom (based on availability). This can be stuff like dry erasers, highlighters, paper, scissors, art supplies and more.

Second Presbyterian Church

One day per year they hold an event in which students can get a free backpack full of school supplies. There are also clothes, sneakers, accessories and other items for students in Charleston.

New Life Christian Fellowship

One day per year Berkeley County students, from pre-school up to high school, will get free school supplies, clothes and more. What is given out will depend on donations.

Neighbors Together

A wide variety of assistance programs are offered in N. Charleston, including a free school supply giveaway. Get books, pens, information on tablet or Chromebooks, notebooks, calculators and more. There are also free personal hygiene kits for students and food programs.

Referral service - Dial 211 for information on local back to school supply give away events. Two local resources that tend to be offered include the following below. However there are also free school supply events in most towns and cities in the Tri-County region, including Goose Creek, Summerville, Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant and others. The charity has many educational programs, including free school supply events. The one day "bash" gives out toiletries, backpacks, notebooks, free clothes, sneakers and more. There is also information on scholarships and social services.

Town of Ravenel

Each year the town holds a free school supply back - event for the local town. Students will get everything from a free backpack full of supplies to a haircut, food, and learn about other educational activities.
