Capital Area Food Bank supports the metro Washington DC area and neighboring communities in Maryland and the counties of Montgomery as well as Prince George's. They are part of Feeding America network of national food banks.
- Low income families, seniors, and children can receive food and support, including clothes, baby formula, and Christmas meals and food baskets. They also offer a variety of benefits and workshops, including enrollment into shopping or healthy eating classes, SNAP food stamp Outreach, Farming and Gardening classes in MD and more. MD Food Bank is based at 2200 Halethorpe Farms Road, Baltimore, MD 21227, but they have other locations in the state too. They work with charities, soup kitchens, and free pantries, including drive thru and locations in all cities. Case workers help people apply for benefits, such as SNAP Outreach Program, WIC vouchers or an EBT card.
Low-income families can also get Baby Pantry and Formula, diapers, hygiene supplies and other goods. School kids can also get free backpacks for meals on the weekend that are full of food. There is also Nutrition Education, pediatric screening services and other food programs. The counties served include Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore City and County. The center works with charities, churches, and food pantries across the eastern portion of the state. It provides groceries and counseling to those centers, and they then provide the items to people in the community.

The United Way 211 service (phone and website) also has dedicated food assistance page. Also please donate canned goods and/or nonperishable food if you can to a local United Way partner in MD. Other social services are for children, students, and senior citizens in the nearby Maryland communities.
For Southern Maryland food resources (and other gaps in coverage), LMS Compassion Place centers can be used. The charity frequently mobile food distribution centers and meal sites. Assistance programs include emergency food assistance, thrift stores, food pantries, free school supplies as well as meals for students. There is also Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and food baskets. Volunteers may also have home delivered meals for seniors and the homebound in Maryland.
