Lake County Illinois free clothing closets, furniture and school supplies.

There are free clothing closets and non-profits in Lake County Illinois that provide basic needs to low income families, including back to school supplies, clothes for year round use, furniture and more. Using donations from the community, the centers may have various free stuff. This may be everything from work clothes or free school supplies to seasonal programs, such as programs for Christmas or even Easter baskets.

The resource centers have collection points in which people can donate goods. Then, based on that, there may be items passed out to income qualified families. Based on the time of the year and what is donated, there may be school supplies (shoes as shoes or backpacks), uniforms for work and other items (maternity clothes, diapers, or furniture). During Christmas, programs such as adopt a family may have presents for children.

When applying for assistance, applicants need proof of income. There are also often waiting lists in place in Lake County Illinois. The clothing closets are also only open limited hours, but call for information.
