Kane County food banks, soup kitchens and food pantries.

Non-profits, charities and churches in Kane County Illinois operate free food pantries as well as soup kitchens near you. The locations provide the needy and low income with assistance, including canned groceries, hot meals and perishable goods. While there will be limits in place and an application process, hundreds of families receive help from these centers every month.

The locations are mainly staffed by volunteers and also rely on donations from the community. Some of what may be on site includes breads, frozen foods, fruits, vegetables and even more specialty type items such as baby formula and meals for the elderly or homebound. Some centers will provide free Thanksgiving, Easter, and/or Christmas meals too during the proper season. Many food pantries also provide free personal toiletries or hygiene supplies. This non-profit supports residents of Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, West Dundee, Gilberts, and East Dundee. The pantry may have fresh perishable foods, including eggs, meat, and produce. Free personal toiletries as well. Services and advice is offered in Spanish too and food is offered at most once per month.

The locations is a so called client-choice food pantry. Resources are limited and it may only be able to help the first 50 families. They can get food at most once per month. An on site clothing closet is also available every other month for items such as winter coats and school supplies.

The aid is for those who have been challenged by economic times or who have health related needs. Priority is for seniors and disabled. The pantry can provide free food to struggling individuals, children and families in the Elgin area. The pantry is open to anyone needing assistance. Some seasonal or holiday meal programs may be offered around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Salvation Army
There are multiple locations.
Basic needs such as clothing and a food bank are on site. There are also Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, financial aid for bills, job placement, and a soup kitchen. Get groceries, canned meat, turkey dinners (for thanksgiving), and hygiene items, such as soap or laundry detergent.
