Transitional housing and homeless shelters in Jacksonville and Duval County

Jacksonville Florida area charities and churches offer transitional housing programs to the working poor and homeless. The centers serve residents across Duval County. Resources range from short term, emergency shelters for the unhoused to help in finding and moving into more permanent homes. Find a list of temporary housing programs in Duval County below, with their contact information listed.

The demand for these services often outstrips what is available, however the organizations will try to support as many people as possible, including providing housing to people with an addiction. The programs do focus as well on homeless prevention and self-sufficiency. After all, those are the keys to remain in housing over the long term. Some clients of the transitional housing units will be able to work with a case manager and access services such as job training, life skills, and credit counseling. These skills are the key to sustaining housing over the long term.
