There are many charities and churches that giveaway stuff to the working poor and people with no money. Most of the locations take donations from the community and then pass the stuff, for free, to people in need. Some of the clothing or furniture banks give out free vouchers for use at a local thrift store in Dauphin or Cumberland. While the programs vary, there are ways to get free personal or household stuff, including appliances, a couch, school supplies for kids and even birthday toys.

Downtown Daily Bread

A focus is on homeless people. A day shelter gives out free clothes, including winter jackets, boots, sleeping bags, socks and other goods. Other essential stuff is also passed out to the working poor.

Newburg United Methodist Church

A wide variety of free clothes are given out, to both adults and kids. Get winter coats, jackets, boots, shoes, jeans, and undergarments. There are also free work uniforms (for adults) and school supplies for students.

Salvation Army programs
