Numerous charities, non-profits, and agencies in Fresno California provide emergency housing resources to the less fortunate, low income, and homeless. Assistance ranges from government programs such as section 8 vouchers, emergency rental assistance, homeless shelters, to legal advice for eviction prevention. The demand for housing assistance is always very high, and the non-profits will do their best to help Fresno County area families with their needs. Emergency Housing Center – The county can refer people to this. It provides temporary emergency shelter for the very low income as well as CalWORKs eligible families.

 

 

 

YWCA Homeward Bound accepts section 8 vouchers and charges a low rent based on income. It offers housing for homeless women and children.

Project Home Again is a partnership of the county and churches in Fresno. The program matches homeless families with churches and religious organizations to help them find permanent homes.

YWCA/Marjaree Mason Center offers housing/shelter for up to one month. The charity will serve children, mothers, and families escape domestic abuse and violence. County of Fresno and City Housing Authorities – Dial (559) 443-8400. The county organization will provide section 8 rental and housing vouchers. Programs can assist eligible low to moderate income residents, seniors, and the disabled by subsidizing a portion of their monthly rent. Other first time home ownership programs are also available to qualified applicants.

Housing Choice Voucher program was designed to assist eligible low-income and working poor families pay their rent on time and stop homelessness. The center is also a HUD-Approved Housing Counseling. The Fair Housing County of Central California is another local non-profit to call. Some of their services offered include legal aid to those discriminated in rental housing, advice on mortgage lending, housing insurance, and referrals and education type services.
